I spent years trying to fix my skin.
Then I learned to listen to it.
For a long time, I woke up every morning and went straight to the mirror. Not out of vanity — out of dread. Scanning for new breakouts, calculating whether I could leave the house, quietly cancelling plans I'd been looking forward to. Acne wasn't just a skin condition for me. It was loneliness. It was shame. It was the constant, exhausting belief that I wasn't enough.
I tried everything the beauty industry offered. Every serum, every prescription, every promise of a clear complexion in 30 days. Nothing lasted. And the more I chased a fix, the more disconnected I felt from my own body.
It wasn't until I began studying Chinese Medicine at RMIT — and later completed a clinical internship at the Nanjing Hospital of Chinese Medicine — that something finally shifted. I learned that the skin is not a problem to be solved. It's a messenger. It reflects the blood, the gut, the nervous system, and the emotional landscape we carry quietly beneath the surface.
